The Community Council locally administers an area in the eastern part of the beautiful and scenic Vale of Glamorgan. It is comprised of two Community Council wards – Llancarfan and Llantrithyd, with other villages and hamlets falling within the Llancarfan ward; namely Llanbethery, Llancadle and Moulton.
These communities were largely untouched by the industrialisation of the 19th and 20th centuries, instead depending on farming and associated activities. Affluence and demographic changes have recently altered the make up and occupations of many of the residents of the area. Now agriculture is concentrated on a small number of farms with a significant number of residents commuting to jobs in Cardiff and other locations outside the area.
Within the Community Council boundary there is one community hall, two local historic parish churches, one public house and a number of listed buildings. The area also comprises a number of Conservation areas.
Community Council meetings take place on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7.30pm with the exception of August (Summer Period). The location of the meeting is currently fixed at: Llancarfan Community Hall, Llancarfan, CF62 3AD. You can also join the meetings virtually via Zoom, Meeting ID: 878 4260 3459, Passcode: 919465
Whilst there are no positions currently available, the Community Council is always interested in meeting with residents interested in becoming a local Councillor.
